A new study revealed previous Covid-19 infection provides “at least as high, if not higher” immunity and protection than two doses of an mRNA vaccine.
The findings published on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in The Lancet show immunity acquired from a Covid infection provides a a strong and lasting protection against severe illness (hospitalization and death).
Individuals with Infection-acquired immunity reduced the risk of hospitalization and death by 88% for at least 10 months when facing a Covid reinfection, the study found.
The authors of the study also noted the research was the biggest meta-analysis to date to examine immunity after infection. It evaluated the chance of developing Covid in those who had recovered from infections to individuals who had not been infected through September and included 65 studies from 19 different countries. Those who had acquired hybrid immunity—immunity resulting from both an illness and a vaccination—were not included.
“What Europe did with this evidence made a lot of sense, which is where evidence of past infection was seen as essentially equal to vaccination in terms of requirements to go into events or for employment,” the senior study author, Dr. Christopher Murray told NBC News. He also said Infection-acquired immunity appeared to wane more slowly than that provided by two doses of an mRNA vaccine.
While the study indicates infection-acquired immunity provides a high level of protection compared to that of two-doses of mRNA Covid-19 vaccine.
It also mentions a well known fact that individuals without immunity obtained through previous infection or vaccine induced pose a higher risk of severe illness depending on the individuals age and if they have any underlaying comorbidities. However it is irrelevant because at least 90% of the population already has infection acquired immunity, vaccine induced immunity or hybrid immunity.

On February 16, 2023, MLA, John Rustad challenged the BC NDP government on the healthcare worker vaccine mandate which is contributing to the worker shortages across the province.
“When will this government do the right thing and hire back BC’s healthcare heros, providers, who were fired or who quit because of mandates and disrespect?”
In response to Rustad, Adrian Dix the Health Minister of British Columbia claimed unvaccinated Healthcare workers would be a threat to hospital patients and deferred to recommendations by the provinces Public health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry which his statement doesn’t align with what Dr. Henry said on January 13, 2023.
A study from June 2022 revealed how robust natural immunity is against reinfections of Covid-19. Despite this knowledge being made public last year Dr. Bonnie Henry clings to healthcare worker Covid-19 vaccine mandates, BC Public service workers are also still impacted by Covid-19 vaccine mandates in British Columbia.
On January 13, 2023 Richard Zussman from Global News asked Bonnie Henry if she will continue to impose the vaccine mandates on healthcare workers when there is clear evidence immunity from a previous infection is better than that of a “primary series” of Covid-19 vaccine from more than a year ago.
Dr. Henry said “The short answer is no”, she neglecting to admit the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine wane over time. Dr. Bonnie Henry later said “it’s much more difficult to put in place a standard that says you must have this” because of the different variations of immunity in the community and health factors of individuals.
Dr. Bonnie Henry insists the Covid-19 vaccine mandates “reduced risk of severe illness and hospitalization,” and that’s her justification for the Covid-19 vaccine mandates. Dr. Bonnie Henry did not say the Covid-19 mandate or the vaccine reduces transmission or infection of Covid-19 which doesn’t align with Adrian Dix claiming unvaccinated Healthcare workers would be a threat to hospital patients.
A study by CDC in the USA published in July 2022 concluding after 150-plus days, the COvid-19 vaccine effectiveness dropped to just 12 percent.
A man in his 60s in Nakusp, B.C. died from a heart attack last week on is way to the hospital. Relatives called emergency 911 and they were told the nearest ambulance is about 90 minutes away. Paramedics are usually dispatched to Nakusp from a closer station but it was closed due to staff illness.
The family called back emergency 911 after one hour of waiting to cancel the call as they were going to self transport him to hospital. The man died on the way to the hospital.
