Trudeau stands by Amira Elghawaby despite her hateful comments

Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (Papineau, QC) rejected calls for him to revoke the appointment of his “inclusion” advisor due to her offensive remarks. One minister in the cabinet described Amira Elghawaby’s comments “really inappropriate.”

“She is there to speak for the community, with the community, and build bridges,” Trudeau told reporters. “She has thought carefully over many years about the impacts that various pieces of legislation and various political positions have had on the community. Her job now is to make sure she’s helping the government.”

Justin Trudeau’s appointment of Amira Elghawaby as Canada’s first “special representative to combat Islamophobia” backfires.

The appointment appeared as though it would be another wedge issue Justin Trudeau could try to manipulate voters to swing over to support him but Conservatives and some Liberal MPs, the Quebec government share the same views on this issue calling for Elghawaby to resign, or be fired if she doesn’t resign.

“The Quebec government is calling for the resignation of the federal government’s special representative to combat Islamophobia.

Quebec Secularism Minister Jean-François Roberge says Ottawa should fire Amira Elghawaby immediately if she chooses not to resign.

The journalist and activist was appointed to the role last week by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

In a Ottawa Citizen opinoin piece written in 2019 Elghawaby linked “anti-Muslim sentiment” to Quebec’s Bill 21, which bans certain government employees from wearing religious symbols at work.

Elghawaby co-wrote a 2019 opinion piece in the Ottawa Citizen linking “anti-Muslim sentiment” to Quebec’s Bill 21, which bans certain government employees from wearing religious symbols at work.”

The appointment of Elghawaby was slammed by CPC Leader Pierre Poilievre while Liberal cabinet minister Pablo Rodriguez also criticized the move.

“”Anti-Muslim” Quebecers: past statements by the Trudeau government’s special representative for the fight against Islamophobia, Amira Elghawaby, are causing a stir (first reported by @LP_LaPresse ). Angry, @pablorodriguez demands that she withdraw her words. #polcan”

Elghawaby in the past has been highly critical of Canada Day calling it a “dominant, European Judeo-Christian storytelling” and demands Muslim prayer rooms in schools. She also voice comments highly critical of the late queen calling her racist along with a call to disarm and defund the police.

It appears the Liberals appointed her to make the Conservatives take a hard stand to oppose the appointment so the liberals could call them ‘Islamophobic,’

The Liberals thought the move would force the Conservatives to oppose her while Liberal supporters would come to her defense and call the conservatives ‘Islamophobic,’. However the Liberals have wedged themselves on this issue as a great divide develops between The English-Canada and Quebec wings of the party.

As Trudeau continues to hammer away at the same talking points as the last few years with no accomplishments as Canadians are financially destroyed by his policy and the grim outlook on the economy, the only political tactic Trudeau has left is divide and conquer politics.
