BC Liberal leader wins Vancouver-Quilchena by election initial results

Kevin Falcon won the 2022 by elction for Vancouver-Quilchena.

Saturday the polls opened and residents of Vancouver-Quilchena had until 8pm to vote for their MLA.

The initial results show BC Liberal Kevin Falcon is crushing the competition and holds 58.61% of the votes.

The next candidate is BC NDP Jeanette Ashe with 24.48% of the votes, followed by BC Green Party Wendy Hayko 9.69%, Conservative Dallas Brodie 6.60% and libertarian Sandra Filosof-Schipper with 0.62%.

There were 38,095 registered voters in Vancouver-Quilchena as of April 20, 2022.

According to the initial results 10,579 voted in this by epection.

Final results will be confirmed after the conclusion of final count on May 4.

Former BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson resigned after the NDP secured a majority in the provincial election in 2020, leaving the Vancouver-Quilchena seat vacant.

Since 1991, the riding has been held by a BC Liberal and is regarded one of the party’s safest. A incumbent MLA will frequently offer their seat to a leader who does not already have a riding.
