Canada’s far left socialist party NDP is pushing forward Bill S233 to create another socialist welfare system to cost tax payers and Canadians more money.
If Bill S233 passes in the Senate then it will go to the House of Commons. If it makes it pass the House of Commons. This enactment requires Chrystia Freeland the Minister of Finance to develop a national framework to provide all persons over the age of 17 in Canada with access to a guaranteed livable basic income.
But hold on lets not get too excited about this so called Universal Basic Income (UBI) because that’s not what is actually being put forward, not everyone will benefit from Bill S233. In fact hard working tax paying Canadians and future generations will be on the hook for this spending in some way while non Canadians benefit from it.
The type of extra socialist welfare system the NDP are planning to use is called a “Guaranteed Livable Basic Income”
Difference between Universal Basic Income (UBI) and Guaranteed livable Basic Income (GLBI)
Many people use these basic income ideology terms interchangeably but there is a big difference between Universal Basic Income (UBI) and Guaranteed Livable Basic Income (GLBI).
Universal Basic Income (UBI) is when everyone gets a set amount of money from the government with no strings attached. Rich or poor it doesn’t matter because that’s how Canada’s universal health care system is and that’s what universal means.
Guaranteed livable Basic Income (GLBI) is much different because it targets certain groups.
People think the Bill is for Universal Basic Income because of the wording and it says it will be available to “all persons over the age of 17 in Canada with access to a guaranteed livable basic income.”
In the text of Bill S233 The Guaranteed livable Basic Income (GLBI) will be available for everyone in Canada not just Canadians it also allows non Canadians to take advantage and abuse this new socialist welfare system. It’s including “temporary workers, permanent residents and refugee claimants” with no incentives or requirements for any of them be working or in school (or seek work, training, and education).
“(c) to ensure that participation in education, training or the labour market is not required in order to qualify for a guaranteed livable basic income”
How will Bill S233 socialist welfare program be funded?
With these types of socialist programs there is only a couple ways to fund them. The options are to keep printing money we can’t afford to print because the budget is already over spent at $1 trillion or the other option is using tax.
The tax option has two avenues.
- First we can increase current taxes such as GST or income tax which income tax has a possibility to reach 40% or higher
- The way to not increase tax is by introducing new taxes to fund the extra socialist welfare system.
Either way hard working Canadians and future Canadian generations will be on the hook for this policy.
CERB was pretty much the testing ground of this policy and as reported by Financial Post it was “knowingly and actively defrauded” by scammers and organized crime, and payments were made to people engaged in “illegal or suspicious financial activity.”
Payments of CERB were also paid to people not living in Canada. National Post reported $12 million in CERB payments were sent to people with foreign addresses.
Outstanding questions:
We need to know who exactly qualifies for the so called GLBI. All of these details are missing from the bill in its current state. One of the “Once it becomes law then you will know what it is” Bills that looks to undermine society and hard working Canadians.
- Is it available to everyone no matter what their employment status is or only to the unemployed? So self employed or working for another company qualify? and if so is there a threshold income cap where they no longer qualify for GLBI?
- Is it available to married couples with only 1 house hold income? if so what is the threshold of income to disqualify them?
- Is the current welfare system going to be phased out?
- Is the persons with disabilities welfare system going to be phased out?
- Do people on the current welfare system qualified to receive more money using the GLBI welfare system?
Recently BC NDP introduced a new online marketplace tax that will tax British Columbians on purchases of used goods from market places like Amazon and ebay to name a couple examples. The person buying the item brand new already paid PST on the item and now British Columbians are charged PST to buy that same item used when it was already taxed.
According to prominent retired American politician Ron Paul (Source TLB), implementing a universal basic income is one of the major goals of the WEF’s Great Reset global socialist plan.
“The Great Reset involves a huge expansion of the welfare state via a universal basic income program. This can help ensure compliance with the Great Reset’s authoritarian measures,” Paul wrote last year, adding that the “authoritarian” measures outlined in the Great Reset include a dramatically expanded “surveillance state via real-time tracking,” the “use of brain scans and nanotechnology to predict, and if necessary, prevent” non-government approved behavior, and “digital certificates” in order to travel.

He added that the “disastrous response to Covid is just the latest example of how those who give up liberty for safety or health will end up unfree, unsafe, and unhealthy.”
The retired congressman concluded, “Instead of a Great Reset of authoritarianism, we need a great rebirth of liberty!”
