BC Liberal Elenore Sturko wins Surrey South by-election

Elenore Sturko, a former RCMP spokes person, won the South Surrey riding with 51.8% of the votes.

The call for a byelection was because former MLA Stephanie Cadieux left to become become Canada’s first Chief Accessibility Officer.

It’s expected on October 3, 2022, Sturko will be sworn in as a representative for south surrey before the BC Legislature resumes.

According to elections bc, as of September 10, 2022 10:12 p.m. the complete resukts are as followed.

BC Liberal Elenore Sturko, BC Liberal received 51.83% of the vote.

BC NDP, Pauline Greaves, BC NDP, in second with 29.99% of the vote.

BC Conservative, Harman Bhangu, placed third with 12.7% of the vote.

BC Green Party, Simran Sarai, fourth with 3.43% of the vote.

BC Libertarian party, Jason Bax, fifth with 2.06% of the vote.
