An investigation by Vancouver Police has resulted in criminal charges being laid against an accused shoplifter who allegedly threw hot soup in the face of a downtown convenience store employee on Sunday night.
When the 70-year-old victim attempted to stop the would-be thief, she was injured. The suspect was carrying a cup of instant noodles and allegedly threw the soup in the woman’s face and on her clothes.
The suspect fled the store, but was arrested by police nearby after witness’ called 9-1-1 call.
The suspect appeared in court Monday. He was charged with assault with weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and theft. He was then released on bail by the courts.
The victim is recovering.
