A man is facing numerous charges after police were called to a downtown intersection for a report of an assault in progress.
On July 3, 2022, around 10:25 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the intersection of 4th Avenue and Victoria Street, where multiple people reported an armed man was attacking another man. The suspect allegedly robbed the victim, then fled on foot.
Police located the suspect on a pedestrian bridge and arrested him,
said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. Thanks to the assistance of a civilian, who helped direct police to the suspect’s location, and the quick response of the frontline officers, the suspect was safely taken into custody without incident.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Andrew Jules Spencer Gizuk, 29, of Kamloops is charged with the following five offences: robbery; assault with a weapon; threatening to use a weapon; possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes, and fail to comply with a probation order.
He was held in custody and is scheduled for a court appearance on July 7, 2022.
