Penticton RCMP investigate homicide

Penticton RCMP is now investigating the stabbing from December 17, 2022 at 5-pm in downtown Penticton as a homicide after the victim died as a result of his injuries.

It was believed earlier that the victim was expected to survive, however, in the days that followed his condition changed and he succumbed to his injuries.

The family of the victim has been connected with RCMP Victim Services and are being supported through this tragic event, said Cst Dayne Lyons, Penticton RCMP Media Relations Officer. The investigation has made significant progress in the days since the initial incident. We are confident to say that the public is not at risk as our investigation continues.

This incident took place in a busy area with many businesses and passersby, Police are asking anyone who might have seen anything, including vehicles driving through the area with dash cameras, that would further the investigation to please contact the Penticton RCMP.

On December 17, 2022 Penticton RCMP were called to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of a business in the 300-block of Martin Street, Penticton. According to a witness statement, the victim was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by a male, who stabbed him multiple times and then fled on foot.
