Not Guilty pleaded Doug McCallum at his public mischief trial

Today in a Surrey court Doug McCallum pleaded not guilty to a criminal mischief charge during day one of his trial.

Doug McCallum told a provincial court judge that he understands the charge against him, which alleges that he made a false statement against a woman who he claims ran over his foot with her car in a grocery store parking lot.

McCallum claims Johnstone nearly pinned him against the back of his car before running over his foot as she was gathering signatures for a group called Keep the RCMP in Surrey.

Brenda Locke, the next mayor, has maintained that taxpayers shouldn’t be footing his legal fees.

Two witnesses are expected to testify after McCallum.
