VPD investigation leads to charges against cosmetic clinic employee

A man who reportedly photographed and sexually assaulted women while working at a downtown laser hair removal clinic has been arrested and charged by Vancouver Police.

After one person came forward and reported being sexually assaulted during laser hair removal consultations at Dermabella Clinic, near Howe and Smithe streets, Vancouver Police initiated an investigation in 2019. During the course of the inquiry, officers discovered a second victim who was allegedly photographed while having treatment at the clinic while naked.

The charges in the two cases have now been accepted by the BC Prosecution Service.

Ali Aghasardar, 50, has been charged with one count of voyeurism and one count of sexual assault. The alleged crimes took place between January and October of this year.

Aghasardar is required by law to never be alone with a patient or client without the presence of another adult for the duration of any treatment.

Police are requesting that anyone with information they feel could be important for the police to know to contact the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-0601.
