Suspicious death in Vernon deemed a homicide

Police have determined a person found deceased in Vernon in the early hours of January 5th died as a result of a homicide.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were dispatched to 3300-block of 32nd Avenue in Vernon around 2 a.m. on Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were. Paramedics were on scene for a report of unconscious woman. The woman determined deceased before BC Ambulance arrived. Police said initial assessment of the victim’s injuries indicated the death to be suspicious.

Police secured the scene and were soon joined by Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s General Investigation Section, Forensic Identification Service, and BC Coroners Service to assist in the investigation. “Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s General Investigation Section, Forensic Identification Service, and BC Coroners Service” police said in a news release.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 1:30 a.m., and 2 a.m., on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022. If you witnessed anything suspicious or have information related to the incident, please contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171.
