Shots Fired In Prince George Detachment City cells

On July 12, 2022, Frontline Police officers of the Prince George RCMP responded to a report of a theft in the area of 15 Avenue and Victoria Street.

Police located the suspect a short distance away and arrested the man, who was found to be in possession of a fire arm and had an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to Prince George Detachments cells.

While being booked in, a physical altercation occurred during which bear spray was discharged and a police officer discharged their service pistol.

One police officer received minor injuries and the suspect was also injured in the altercation and received medical attention for those injuries.

The IIO has been notified of the event. As this is an active investigation, there will be no further updates.
