Man with firearm, ammunition arrested in Downtown Eastside housing complex

On Thursday morning, Vancouver police say they arrested a man brandishing a gun inside a social housing development in the Downtown Eastside.

A 29-year-old male who doesn’t live in the building contacted 911 just after midnight, claiming that a man had strolled in with a weapon and ammo, then barricaded himself inside the staff-only office space, police said.

Without incident, officers arrested the man in the building on East Hastings and Princess Avenue. There were no accidents.

According to police, a Surrey man was arrested and faces various firearm charges.
