Two men shot in Newton suffering from serious injuries now in stable condition

Surrey RCMP is continuing their investigation into a shooting Friday night in the Newton area, and are appealing to anyone with further information to come forward.

The two men injured in the shooting are now considered in stable condition. One of the men had an outstanding warrant and it now in police custody. While still early in the investigation, this shooting is believed to be linked to the drug trade and the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.

Police can confirm that a vehicle found burnt in Delta yesterday evening is believed to be connected to the shooting.

The investigation is being led by the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit, with assistance from a number of specialized teams including the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team and the Integrated Forensic Identification Team. In addition, Frontline officers on scene last night were assisted by Intgrated Police Dog Services and CFSEU-BC UGET.

Investigators continue to canvas the area for potential witnesses or CCTV footage. Anyone with information about this incident, or who may have dash cam video in the area at the time of the shooting is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
