Targeted shooting in Surrey leaves 17-year old injured

Surrey RCMP were called to investigate confirmed shots fired in a neighborhood in the Guildford area.

Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 11200-block of Lansdowne Drive at 3:17 a.m. on March 16, 2022. Officers arrived and discovered evidence of a shooting. The injuries sustained by a 17-year-old known to the police were non-life threatening. The victim was taken to the hospital and released shortly after.

The investigation has been handed over to the Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit. The probe is still in its early stages, but all signs point to it being targeted. The incident does not appear to be connected to the gang conflict in the Lower Mainland.

Anytime there is a shooting it is very concerning, says Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, Constable Gurvinder Ghag There were multiple people inside the residence who were placed at risk as a result of this shooting, thankfully no one was seriously injured.

Anyone with information about this incident, dash camera footage or video surveillance from the area is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
