Suspicious vehicle stop discovers drugs and guns

A loaded semi-automatic rifle was amongst the items seized by police following a suspicious circumstances report.

On Friday July 1, 2022 at approximately 9:35 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a parking lot on the 700-block of Tranquille Road for a report which involved a suspicious man in a car. The vehicle had been reported previously as taken without consent, and the man – its sole occupant — was detained by police for investigation.

As part of the investigation that followed, officers located a loaded semi-automatic rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition, an assortment of suspected illegal drugs, and cash, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

A man was arrested and later released, with charge recommendation anticipated following the investigation’s conclusion.
