Quesnel RCMP investigate after a woman was robbed at ATM

A woman was robbed when she went to use the ATM on Reid Street in Quesnel.

Police say a woman was followed in to an ATM vestibule on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 6:40 p.m at the 300 block of Reid Street where she planned to make a cash withdrawal. The male then demanded the woman to pull out cash and give to him while he made hand gestures like he was armed with a weapon, said the police.

The woman handed him an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled on foot.

“This brazen robbery occurred when there were businesses still open and moderate pedestrian traffic due to the Kangaroos hockey game,” said Staff Sergeant Richard Weseen, the Detachment Commander of the Quesnel RCMP.

“We are appealing to the public for anyone who had information regarding this robbery, or may have dash cam or surveillance video, to review their footage during the time period of the robbery.”

Staff Sergeant Weseen added, “This robbery comes on the heels of an armed robbery that occurred on January 7, 2023 at the Husky gas station. The Quesnel RCMP General Investigation Section, and Crime Reduction Unit, are investigating to determine if the two robberies are linked.”

The suspect was described as Caucasian, 5’6, slim build and had blue eyes. He was wearing a black and white plaid jacket, black sweater, blue jeans, and a mask with a single hole for both eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Quesnel RCMP at (250)992-9211.
