Police investigating robbery with a firearm

The Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment is looking for witnesses and information related to a robbery involving two people and a motorcycle.

On Aug. 10, 2022 around 10:20 p.m., frontline officers responded to the 7000-block of the Trans Canada Highway in Savona, where a man entered a gas station store, produced a firearm, and stole lottery tickets and cigarettes.

The man fled from the store and jumped on the back of a black street motorcycle, driven by his accomplice who was waiting nearby, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP spokesperson.

The suspect was wearing a black and orange motorcycle helmet with a face guard and the numbers 509 on the side.

While patrolling the area, a frontline officer located a motorcycle with no license plate and two passengers, travelling toward Deer Road. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but one of its riders dropped a bag containing the stolen merchandise and fled.

Officers retrieved the bag and returned the items to the store.
