Police investigate after a woman pepper sprayed in Centennial Square

Victoria Police are investigating after was a woman was allegedly pepper-sprayed in Centennial Square on Wednesday evening.

In a news release Victoria Police said the incident took place on Nov 2, 2022, just after 8:30 p.m. When officers arrived on scene they found bystanders attempting to decontaminate the woman. The woman then receive medical assistance by B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics, she was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the woman was approached from behind by a man and a woman who demanded she give them her money before assaulting her with pepper spray.

The man was identified and later arrested that evening and released with conditions and a future court date. However the female suspect was not located.

The police currently believe this to be a targeted attack.
