One killed and 2 injured in targeted shooting

Targeted shooting kills one man and sends 2 others to hospital

On July 30, 2022, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shooting in the 14600-block of 20th Avenue. Police attended and located three male victims in medical distress suffering from gunshot wounds. Attending officers provided life saving measures until Emergency Health Services arrived. Despite life saving measures, one of the injured men succumbed to his injuries on scene. The remaining two victims were transported to local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police are looking for any witnesses or those with dash cam footage from the area to contact police.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is working in partnership with Surrey RCMP. Initial investigations are that this was a targeted incident. The investigation is in the early stages and police are currently in the evidence gathering phase. At this point in time, there is no concern for public safety.

Any further information will be provided by Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is urging witnesses to come forward after what appeared to be a targeted shooting in South Surrey, which left multiple victims deceased.

Investigators believe the shooting to have been targeted and do not believe there is any further risk to the public. At this time, investigators are working to confirm the identities of the victims and any nexus to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

“The onset of any investigation is critical as we move swiftly to secure time-sensitive and perishable evidence,” says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “We are appealing to anyone with dash cam video to secure the footage and to contact us immediately.
