IHIT investigating double homicide in Coquitlam

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of an investigation after three individuals were shot inside a vehicle in Coquitlam, BC.

On November 23, 2022 at 7:45 p.m., the Coquitlam RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Dawes Hill Road and Mundy Street in Coquitlam. Upon arrival, officers located two unresponsive men inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased on scene while another was transported to hospital and later succumbed to their injuries. A third victim was located suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. IHIT took conduct of the investigation and continue to work closely in partnership with the Coquitlam RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS).

Investigators have identified one of the victims as 25-year old Ramin Salam of Coquitlam. Efforts are still being made to confirm the identity of the second victim.

At this time, investigators believe this to be a targeted shooting relating to the ongoing lower mainland gang conflict.

IHIT is asking anyone with dash camera footage or information regarding the homicides to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
