IHIT deployed after man dies in Abbotsford apartment

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) have been deployed to Abbotsford after a man was stabbed in an apartment building last week.

Background:
On September 1, 2022, at approximately 5:47 p.m., Abbotsford Police Department responded to a report of a man suffering from life-threatening injuries at an apartment in the 1900-block of McCallum Road, Abbotsford. The man was treated by responding officers and Emergency Health Services (EHS), but unfortunately he did not survive. Two suspects were identified at scene and were arrested in relation to the homicide. IHIT has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the Abbotsford Police Department and BC Coroners Service.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident between people known to each other, with no further risk to the public.

IHIT has identified the victim of the homicide, but is not yet releasing his name, out of respect for the family.

We’re working on establishing a motive for this sad incident, says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. This incident does not appear to be connected to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
