IHIT called out following Thursday night stabbing

Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a homicide that occurred Thursday night and requesting anyone with information to contact police.

On August 18, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a stabbing near 184 Street and Fraser Highway. Frontline officers arrived on scene and located a 45-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. The man was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Service attended the scene and located one person who was taken into police custody and transported to Surrey RCMP cells.

Initial indications are that there was a confrontation involving the victim and several other parties prior to the stabbing. Work is being done to identify all parties who may have been involved or who may have witnessed this incident.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with Surrey RCMP. The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for an undetermined amount of time while police work to gather evidence.
