Bus thief caught 15 minutes after theft

On Thursday, July 28, 2022, just after 8:00 a.m., Prince George RCMP received a report of a stolen City Transit bus from the 1400-block of Edmonton Street.

Police officers located the bus on Highway 16 West, heading towards College Heights. The suspect stopped the bus when he saw police officers at the intersection of Domano Road and Moriarty Crescent. Frontline police officers, with the assistance of a Police Dog Service team, arrested the suspect. The man was subsequently transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police officers were able to stop the bus and arrest the suspect within 15 minutes of the theft being reported to police. Our quick response to this incident undoubtedly prevented any further incidents from occurring and kept others on the road safe, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
