Man suffers serious injuries after shooting in Surrey

In a shooting that happened Wednesday night in Surrey’s Whalley area, a 25-year-old man sustained critical injuries.

The Surrey RCMP responded to a report of gunfire in the 13500-block of 89th Avenue shortly after 5 p.m.  A man was located suffering serious injuries.

He received first aid from paramedics and was taken to the hospital, where, according to the RCMP, hishe is in stable condition.

In the early hours of Thursday, police were also alerted to a report of a vehicle on fire in the 13300-block of 88A Avenue. Investigators think the vehicle that sped away from the scene of the incident is a stolen one. However, they are currently looking into possible connections between the two instances.

According to a news release sent by the Surrey RCMP early on Thursday morning, officers are scouring the area and speaking with witnesses to gather more information.

Investigators think this is a isolated incident with parties known to each other. However, a revised news release stated that they are still looking for a motive.

Anyone with more information, including dash cam footage around the area of 19th avenue between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file: 2022-129469.
