Harness B.C.’s natural fresh water (future liquid gold) advantage

Water restrictions really aren’t new, we have seen them in the past during very dry summers. But the question is why? Why are we always dealing with water shortages and drought like summers when there’s abundant amount of fresh rain water and flood waters every year?

With British Columbia’s rapidly growing population the problem of water shortages will only get worse. It is time for British Columbia to harness it’s access to water and take advantage of the seasonal floods.

British Columbia could become Canada’s professionals in water harvesting, storage and logistics technology and strategy. This will provide water security for British Columbians and provide the province with a precious resource to earn revenue for the province.

Ideas: run analysis in areas of BC with the most repeat flooding or high amounts of rain. Study and design storm water collection and storage from provincial lands. The water can be used in many ways from household use to farming during drought, energy generation and wildfire suppression. Any excess water can be sold on either a local or global market for extra revenue generation.
